Subj: forum commands

OK, gang. I keep forgetting that not everyone has been here
since day one; even people who have been here since day 12 or
so. :)

PLEASE ask questions if you have them!
For instance, several people have ben confused over the past
year about how to send private messages. If you are NOT in a
conference room, you can send messages to anybody by using the
command "SEN (job #) message here" and return. If you ARE
in a conference room; such as the Sunday evening conference in
room 18 for ADAM users; you must put a / in front of the
SEN command. I don't think you even have to type out the word
SEN or SEND, just use /S to do the trick. Leave a space, then
type in the job # of the person you want to converse with. BE
SURE that you do this on a blank line!!!! Don't type ANYTHING
before the /SEN command!

The job # is available to you from the forum by typing in UST
for User Status. Each person's name will be followed by a
number, ususlly 1 thru 8, etc. This is the person's JOB #

So a typical message from the conference room would read:
"/sen 4 Blow in my ear and I'll follow you anywhere." Which
makes it clear that you do NOT want your private message to
be made public.

NOW, I REALLY really want you to understand this. If you have
even the slightest question, PLEASE let me know! Never mind
if you thikn it's stupid, this IS something you NEED to know!
Maybe not now, but maybe next week!

If you don't want people to know you are asking, then post a
message to me (Sysop/*PJ (ADAM) 76537,1271 and instead of
telling CIS to POST it, tell it to POST PRI. Then nobody will
see the message but me, and I SWEAR to you I will NOT consider
it stupid in any way. Tell us how to help you!

Oh yeah, forgot to tell you how to find out the Job # in
conference mode. Just type in /U A that will tell you
onto only who is in the conference, but who is in the mess-
age base and the libraries. Each name will be followed by
a number which is the job #.
